Marriage and Family Therapist
Brittany Bargiel, MA, LMFT is passionate about individual change and personal growth. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, Brittany believes change occurs by identifying individual and family relational patterns that allow personal growth, family connectedness, and create more effective ways of interacting with one another. Brittany is prepared to take an active role in therapy with you, by engaging with the couple or family as a whole. Brittany enjoys working with individuals and families through various mental health issues such as, anxiety, depression, self-worth, the spectrum of couples and family relational issues, trauma, women’s issues, and helping families and individuals through life’s transitions.
Education & Experience
Brittany graduated from Seton Hill University with her bachelor’s degree majoring in Psychology with a minor in Gender and Women’s studies. This is where she found her passion of helping and working with others. She continued her education at Seton Hill earning a Masters degree in Marriage and Family therapy. Brittany is currently working towards obtaining her professional license in the state of PA.
Brittany has worked with various populations and in various settings throughout her career. Brittany worked with women coming out of domestic violence relationships in a residential facility, helping them plan and navigate their own independence and freedom.
Brittany went on to work with children and adolescents providing in-home therapy to increase communication, social, and play skills and decrease behaviors interfering in daily activities at home, school, or within the community using Applied Behavioral Analysis.
Brittany then went on to work as a Crisis Interventionist Specialist, which allowed her to develop skills for assessing self-harm and suicidal ideation. Next, Brittany went on to work within an adult partial hospitalization program providing trauma-informed psychotherapy to individuals and groups.
Brittany currently works part time in a hospital setting providing inpatient and outpatient providing therapy with mental health disorders, utilizing Cognitive behavioral therapy and Dialectical behavior therapy. She is currently working at the Counseling and Wellness Center Greensburg office offering mental health services.
Hobbies & Interests
Brittany was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. When not in session with couples and families, Brittany really enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, staying active, and watching Steelers football games.
