Veronica Lopez, LAMFT | Polyamory Therapist
Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist | Polyamory, Open Relationship, and ENM Counseling
I am a polyamory therapist and Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist working with individuals, couples, and relationship systems who want support that already understands how their relationships work. Whether you are navigating overwhelming emotions, communication breakdowns, jealousy, relationship conflict, or a major life transition, your experience is valid, and healing is entirely possible.
Life can leave us feeling stuck, disconnected, or exhausted. Reaching out for support is a transformative first step. My goal is to provide a warm, nonjudgmental, culturally responsive space where you can openly explore your experiences, build resilience, and create lasting, meaningful change.
Polyamory Therapy and Open Relationship Counseling
As a poly friendly therapist, I offer sex-positive, affirming care to people in non-monogamous, open, and polyamorous relationships. Polyamory counseling with me does not begin with convincing me that your relationship structure is valid. We start from there.
Common reasons clients come to me for polyamorous couples therapy:
- Opening an existing relationship, or renegotiating agreements that no longer fit
- Jealousy, insecurity, and comparison inside a poly system
- Communication and conflict among partners, metamours, and nesting partners
- Rebuilding trust after a broken agreement
- Hierarchy, veto power, and balancing time across partners
- Coming out as ENM to family, friends, or at work
- Transitioning out of monogamy, or back toward it
As an ENM and open relationship therapist, I also work with solo poly clients, relationship anarchists, and people who are still figuring out what structure fits them. You do not need the right vocabulary or a settled answer before you reach out.
Couples, Sex Therapy, and Specialized Relational Care
Beyond non-monogamy therapy, I help individuals, couples, and families build deeper connection, heal relational wounds, and navigate complex intimacy dynamics. I work with traditional couples as well as non-traditional relationship structures on communication, trust, ongoing conflict, and sexual wellness.
Inclusive, Culturally Responsive, and Affirming Therapy
Creating a space where every client feels genuinely seen, respected, and understood is at the heart of my practice. I am deeply committed to serving the LGBTQIA+ and sex-positive ENM communities.
As a bilingual therapist (English and Spanish) with personal roots in the Hispanic and Latinx community, I bring a culturally grounded perspective to my work. I welcome clients from all cultural backgrounds, honoring the identities and lived experiences each person brings into the room.
My clinical experience also includes:
- Mental health and neurodiversity: anxiety, depression, ADHD, emotional regulation, and autism
- Trauma and life transitions: PTSD, grief and loss, self-esteem, stress management, and co-occurring disorders
- Relational dynamics: family conflict, intergenerational issues, and multicultural concerns
My Therapeutic Approach
My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and systemic. You are the expert on your own life. My role is to help you unlock your strengths, develop practical coping tools, and deepen self-awareness.
I integrate evidence-based modalities customized to your needs, drawing from:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
- Person-Centered Therapy
- Family Systems Therapy
- Narrative Therapy
- Mindfulness and psychoeducation
- Sex therapy, couples therapy, and ENM couples therapy
Education and Background
I earned my Master of Marriage and Family Therapy, building a rigorous foundation in systemic thinking, relational dynamics, and evidence-based intervention. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in Addictions, which gives me added insight for clients navigating co-occurring mental health and substance use challenges.
Outside the Office
To bring genuine energy, warmth, and authenticity into sessions, I take care of my own well-being outside of them. You will often find me outdoors, exploring local food spots, reading, listening to music, doing yoga, rollerblading, napping, or spending time with friends, family, and my pets.
