Dr. Allyson Casey
Hi there! My name is Dr. Allyson Casey, PsyD, and I am a licensed psychologist with specialized experience in identifying, diagnosing, and treating a variety of anxiety related disorders including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Phobias, and Separation and Generalized Anxiety. I also have experience working with individuals and families to navigate unpredictable mood changes, behavioral difficulties, and conflict. I am passionate about helping children, adolescents, young adults, and their families build meaningful and fulfilling lives. I support them in navigating intense emotions, as well as related thoughts and behaviors, by fostering acceptance and guiding them toward a life aligned with their values.
Exploring each client’s unique strengths and areas for growth is a key part of my approach. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment for all family members by offering warmth, compassion, humor, and flexibility. Evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), are integrated with creative techniques like games, movement, and art to ensure the process feels fun, engaging, and effective. My goal is to empower clients to face their feelings, fears, and worries with courage and self-compassion while fostering a collaborative space where everyone feels welcome, heard, and understood.
I understand the importance of receiving an accurate mental health diagnosis and the validation it can provide. Through psychological testing, I help clients identify and understand potential diagnoses such as ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, Mood Disorders, and Trauma. This process equips clients with the clarity and resources needed to overcome obstacles and work toward their individual goals with appropriate support.
Education and Experience
I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies from The Pennsylvania State University, where I discovered my passion for working with children, adolescents, and their families. This passion inspired me to pursue a Doctoral degree at Widener University, where I specialized in child, adolescent, and family therapy.
During my doctoral training, I also completed the coursework, field training, and examination required to become a certified school psychologist in Pennsylvania. Through this journey, I developed the skills to collaborate effectively with families and school personnel, helping to identify and implement accommodations that support each student’s emotional, social, and academic needs.
Hobbies and Interests
I like to spend my free time with my friends and family, as well as my dog, Eevee, and cat, Delilah. I love finding new coffee shops and restaurants to try and find joy in going for walks, baking, traveling, learning French, and playing board games!
