Hannah Yeager
I’m Hannah Yeager, LSW (she/her), a neurodivergent, queer therapist with lived experience navigating identity concerns, relationship conundrums, and systems that don’t often reflect or appreciate the complexities of who we are. My work is grounded in the belief that therapy should be a space where you are encouraged to be yourself fully-where success and happiness are defined in your terms.
I specialize in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, mood disorders, self-esteem challenges, identity exploration, grief and loss, and major life transitions. I have a passion for supporting people from marginalized communities—including neurodivergent individuals, members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, and those practicing polyamory or other forms of ethical non-monogamy—drawing in part from my own lived experiences. I am committed to understanding the impact of intersectionality, recognizing how your various identities interact to shape your unique experience in the world.
My therapeutic approach is confrontational but compassionate. I believe in being honest, but never brutal. Information can be delivered with empathy, and hard conversations can happen in warm, respectful, and healing spaces. I’m not here to sugarcoat, but I am happy to climb into whatever hole you may be in while we build the skills and courage to climb out, together.
My practice is rooted in client-centered, strength-based care. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all therapy. Together we’ll build a process that works for you. I typically integrate techniques from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and other evidence-based modalities.
I deeply believe that there isn’t anything you can’t come back from, or better yet, work through. No matter where you’re starting from, I’m here to support your journey toward healing, empowerment, and authenticity.
Education and Experience
I first earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies, with a Minor in Child Maltreatment and Advocacy Studies, from The Pennsylvania State University. For the past six years, I have worked in the field of Child Welfare as an investigator of child abuse and neglect. During that time, I witnessed firsthand the harsh realities many people face, which ignited a deep commitment for me to be a steady, supportive, empathetic presence for others during the most difficult moments in life. That desire to become a compassionate professional led me to pursue my Master of Social Work at The University of Pittsburgh.
Hobbies and Interests
I have a love for coffee and tea so you can find me at any given time with at least one drink in my hand. When away from the office I enjoy witnessing all the beautiful artwork Pittsburgh has to offer. I spend a great deal of time at home corralling my dog, Miles Davis, or cuddled up on the couch watching my favorite comfort shows.
I consider myself a life-long learner and spend a great deal of time reading self-help and therapy books to improve both my personal and professional self; change for me is an intentional act that has only led to creating the best version of myself. I am an active member of the local LGBTQIA2S+ community and a strong advocate for the right to equality and joy for minoritized groups.
