Shana Ash
Hi, my name is Shana Ash, LCSW and I am a licensed therapist with more than 10 years of clinical experience working with individuals, couples, and groups. I primarily work with adults, but am experienced in working with adolescents. I am trained in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i), Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Trauma Informed Interventions. I am a certified Therapeutically Applied Game Master “GM” via the use of Tabletop Role-Playing Games in group settings and with individuals. I also utilize elements of Music Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness-Based Therapies, and Person-Centered Therapy.
My heart and my passion is creating a safe, open space and a meaningful, therapeutic connection with people who are suffering and looking for relief. I’ve had the honor of supporting people who are struggling with addiction, depression, anxiety, insomnia, body image issues, burn-out, loss, managing chronic illness, relationship difficulties, executive dysfunction, problem relationships with food, social challenges, difficulty with change, and many other obstacles.
My therapy style is dynamic—empathetic and nurturing when needed, but also methodical or enthusiastic when the situation calls for it. I advocate for healing through applied interventions like roleplaying, music, gaming, art, and the tangible practicing of skills like meditation, grounding, relaxation, and cognitive restructuring. My therapy space is an active and cooperative space where the client sets the pace.
Education and Experience
My undergraduate experience started at Youngstown State University as a music major, then on to Slippery Rock University where I studied both psychology and music therapy. I completed my graduate studies at Case Western Reserve University, where I earned my MSW.
Hobbies and Interests
Some of my personal favorite things to do are playing music & singing, playing games with friends, PC gaming, spending time with my two cats and husband, and being outdoors as much as the Pennsylvania weather permits!
