Kate Figgs
Therapy for Teens
Hi there, I’m Kate Figgs, LSW. Whether this is your first experience with therapy or you’ve been before, I’m really glad you’re here.
I take a person-centered, trauma-informed, and collaborative approach, with attention to the systems and environments that shape our lives. I draw from evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Feminist Therapy. I believe therapy works best when it’s individualized. You are the expert of your own life, and I’m here to walk alongside you.
I work with adolescents and adults, ages 12 and up. My therapy for teens and adults includes support for those navigating trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, PTSD, neurodivergence, and Borderline Personality Disorder. I also have experience working with survivors of relationship, family, and sexual violence.
Clients often come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to start. Our work together may focus on building insight, developing coping skills, navigating life stressors, or processing relationship or sexual trauma. I strive to create a space that feels safe, affirming, and respectful, where all parts of you are welcome.
Education and Experience
I earned my Bachelor of Social Work from Pennsylvania Western University (formerly California University of Pennsylvania) and my Master of Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh. My training includes sexual assault advocacy, inpatient psychiatric care with children and adolescents, and work in both domestic and intimate partner violence settings.
Hobbies & Interests
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me walking local trails, spending time with family and friends, baking (and making a mess of my kitchen), or curled up with a good book.
