Christina Stets, PMHNP
PMHNP for Virtual Psychiatry
Hello, I’m Christina Stets, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). I understand how overwhelming, frustrating, and isolating mental health challenges can feel—for both individuals and families. Many people reach out to me feeling exhausted, discouraged, or unsure why things feel so hard despite their best efforts. My goal is to offer a supportive space where you feel understood and never judged.
People often seek psychiatric services during moments when life feels overwhelming. You or your child may be struggling with anxiety, mood changes, emotional outbursts, difficulty focusing, or feeling stuck despite your best efforts. Parents may feel helpless watching their child struggle, while teens and young adults may feel misunderstood or ashamed of challenges they don’t fully understand. Many clients worry that something is “wrong” with them. I want you to know that these experiences are common—and help is available.
Anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, trauma-related symptoms, and attention differences are not personal failures. They are human responses influenced by neurobiology, stress, development, and life experiences. Many people spend years blaming themselves or masking symptoms before receiving clarity and support. A meaningful part of my work is helping clients better understand what they are experiencing, identify their strengths, and recognize that they are not broken or alone. Psychiatric care is not a last resort—it is a proactive step toward stability, growth, and improved quality of life.
I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults, as well as parents and families, offering developmentally informed care across the lifespan. My clinical focus includes ADHD, anxiety, mood disorders, emotional regulation difficulties, trauma-related concerns, behavioral challenges, school-related stress, and parent-child dynamics, with a special interest in supporting neurodivergent individuals and those who have felt misunderstood or overlooked within traditional systems. Collaboration is central to my work, and when appropriate, I coordinate care with caregivers, schools, and other providers to ensure support extends beyond the office.
My approach is warm, collaborative, practical, and compassionate. I believe the best outcomes happen when clients feel safe, heard, and actively involved in their care. I use evidence-based, trauma-informed practices, skills-based strategies, emotional regulation tools, parent coaching, and medication management when appropriate. Together, we focus on building insight, strengthening coping skills, and creating realistic, sustainable changes that support everyday life. When working with children and adolescents, I partner closely with caregivers to help translate progress into the home and school environment.
Education and Experience
I earned my Master’s degree as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner PMHNP from Wilkes University and have advanced training in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment across the lifespan. My background allows me to approach care through both a therapeutic and medical lens, always tailoring treatment to the individual.
Hobbies and Interests
Outside of my professional work, I value balance and meaningful connection. I enjoy hiking, staying active at the gym, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. These experiences help keep me grounded and reinforce the importance of supporting not only mental health, but overall well-being.
If you are considering reaching out, I admire your courage. You deserve care that meets you where you are and supports you with clarity, compassion, and respect.
