Shauna Shepherd
I’m Shauna Leigh Shepherd, MA, LPC, CADC I, RYT 200, and for over 15 years I’ve utilized playful, creative approaches to help people navigate trauma, pain, and life’s toughest moments. I work with individuals ages 5+ as well as couples who are struggling with communication, trust, emotional distance, or feeling stuck in the same old patterns. I help clients by using somatic therapies (including EMDR) and creative arts—such as visual arts, movement/dance, music/sound, drama/psychodrama, and writing/poetry—to access the parts of yourself that words alone can’t reach.
I have a deep knowledge and understanding of the pain of human suffering, especially the experience of being stuck in talking cycles but unable to resolve the core of the issue. Over the years, noticing this pattern in my clients, I’ve developed relational and embodied techniques for bringing back balance to oneself, each other, and the earth.
My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and collaborative. I help clients slow down, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and practice new ways of responding—especially in moments that feel charged or painful. I aim to create a supportive, balanced space where individuals feel understood and couples feel heard, so meaningful and lasting change can unfold. I welcome LGBTQ+ identifying clients, neurodivergent individuals, monogamous and non-monogamous couples, all ethnicities and religious backgrounds, and I take a person-centered, Jungian/Indigenous therapeutic approach.
Education and Experience
I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, with an emphasis in Expressive Arts Therapy, and I am trained in Level I and Level II EMDR. As a CADC I (certified drug and alcohol counselor) I specialize in overcoming addiction to become your authentic self without dependence on a substance or relationship. I practice holistic approaches to healing with training as a Registered Yoga Teacher with the American Yoga Alliance & the International Yoga Association based in India and Ireland.
Hobbies and Interests
I recently fell in love with multimedia fabric quilt making using paints on fabrics. At home, I am busy writing a guidebook for the transformative times we live in and balancing life as a mother of two toddlers.
I founded and directed an Eco Arts organization that led group retreats using the arts in nature as a way for people to deeply connect and create with the living earth to foster belonging. One of my hobbies is Wildcrafting and foraging to make lip balms and herbal medicine as well as Vedic/Western astrology.
