

Sam Caurdy
Sam Caurdy, LPC, MSCP, offers in-person and online counseling services to individuals, couples, and families. Sam’s clinical expertise includes working with adjustment disorders, anxiety, attention deficit disorder (ADD/ADHD), depression, and mood disorders, as well as substance use, relationship conflict, family conflict, and parenting challenges.
Sam has an emphatic and patient approach that provides a supportive environment that nurtures open, honest dialogue. He seeks to understand the whole person and help them use their inherent strengths to achieve meaningful, lasting change. Sam enjoys the process of building trusting relationships and being a part of the client’s growth and success.
Sam uses empirically supported therapy modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Client Centered Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness and Self-Compassion practices, Systemic Family and Couples Therapy.
Education and Experience
Sam holds a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology (MSCP) from Chatham University, where he trained to become a patient, well-rounded therapist. He also completed a graduate certificate in Systemic Family and Couple Therapy from Capella University. His clinical training was completed at JADE Wellness Center of Pittsburgh, where he gained hands-on experience working with diverse client needs in addiction and mental health care.
Sam earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Washington and Jefferson College. Growing up in a family of teachers, he developed a passion for helping others learn, grow, and reach their potential.
In addition to his clinical training, Sam has served in various roles in both medical and mental healthcare settings. While at Washington and Jefferson College, he interned as a Health Coach with Allegheny Health Network and Certified Nurse Assistant during his undergraduate years. He later worked as a Behavioral Health Coordinator at The Being Well Center, a private practice specializing in attention deficit disorders and co-occurring conditions. He also served as an Intake Engagement Specialist at Familylinks, a community-based outpatient mental health clinic.
Hobbies and Interests
Sam enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends and participating in outdoor activities such as golfing and hiking. A former collegiate athlete, Sam, enjoys continuing to partake in the athletic community. Sam likes to cook and can always be found in the kitchen honing his culinary skills.
