Caroline Meyer
Caroline Meyer, MA, NCC, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania. She uses an existential therapy approach to counseling, which helps people find purpose and meaning in their lives. She aims to create a safe environment in which individuals can feel comfortable navigating life’s stressors and successes. Her initial goal is to build rapport, recognizing that each person is unique and therefore their counseling process should be as well. Goals will be collaboratively established and reviewed on an ongoing process.
Caroline is able to provide counseling services to individuals, couples, and families. She enjoys working with individuals on issues and concerns including anxiety, depression, substance use, addiction, recovery, self-esteem, and sexuality. She has experience working with couples on specific concerns such as relationship conflict, building intimacy, and communication. Caroline is also able to work with families on issues including navigating blended families, co-parenting, substance use and the family, healthy communication, and family conflicts.
Education & Experience
Caroline earned a Master’s of Arts degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy from the University of Central Florida, which is one of the top ten CACREP accredited programs in the United States for Counselor Education. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Duquesne University.
Prior to her direct clinical experience, she has a variety of background experience working in outpatient settings, in group homes, and in residential facilities. Her direct counseling experience began in 2016, and has grown since then to include a private practice setting. Caroline also has 5 years of experience working with individuals with Substance Use Disorder, helping them navigate through the stages of change and the ups and downs of the recovery process.
Caroline recognizes that substance use not only impacts the individual, but also affects the family system as well. Her drug and alcohol experience taught her that healing is not linear– everyone’s journey is different, and should be respected. This concept is one that she embraces and applies to mental health counseling as well.
Hobbies
Caroline believes that self-care and wellness are an important part of not only her practice, but of her own daily routine as well. To de-stress, she utilizes reading, baking, yoga, and game nights with friends. In her free time, Caroline enjoys spending time with her son and her golden retriever, Chewbacca. As a Western, PA native, she also loves summer time and spending time at the lake, bonfires, hiking, swimming, camping, and outdoor activities.
