Stephanie Wijkstrom, MS, LPC, NBCC believes in our human capacity for boundless change and growth and is honored to guide others toward the profound serenity and joy that results when we create peace and connection in our lives. As CEO and founder of The Counseling and Wellness Center of Pittsburgh, she is able to offer her trusted competencies in working with couples and clients who are experiencing emotional concerns such as anxiety, anger, depression, grief, trauma, and a myriad other intimacy and relationship troubles. She is passionate about providing effective Marriage Counseling to couples.
Stephanie utilizes Mindfulness, Humanistic Therapy, Psycho-dynamic Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Counseling. By using these scientifically proven methods of healing, Stephanie will help you to create balance, wholeness, greater connection and deeper meaning in your life and relationships. Stephanie is also ranked as the Top Therapist in Pittsburgh for Marriage Counseling and Relationship concerns (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020).
Stephanie earned her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from The University of Pittsburgh, graduating Magna Cum Laude and then onward she earned a Masters of Professional Counseling Psychology. After completing her education and program and earning her Pennsylvania license and National Board Certifications Stephanie was enthusiastic to begin counseling in the private practice setting. Stephanie always had a vision for bringing wellness and counseling together as an offering to Western Pennsylvania, it is this vision that brought to life the mission statement of the Counseling and Wellness Center of Pittsburgh.

Stephanie is a writer, educator, and speaker, and has appeared in local television including KDKA-TV CBS Pittsburgh’s Talk Pittsburgh as an expert on relationships. Stephanie is tireless in sharing wellness and relationship wisdom and she has been featured as a thought leader in countless articles in places such as Huffington Post, NBC, Shivana Spirit, Bustle, Fatherly, PBS, Rewire and many more. Stephanie shares research and wisdom on topics such as communication, counseling, mindfulness, and relationships. Stephanie published her first book, Creating Relationship Wellness: An Introduction to the Techniques of Mindfulness for Healthy Relationships in 2021.
Community engagement is a vital part of the work that is done at the Counseling and Wellness Center of Pittsburgh and for this reason, Stephanie works hard to create a center that is therapeutically effective. Her goal is to enhance the community by bringing wellness solutions to all member of Western Pennsylvania. Stephanie has done humanitarian work from building shelters and providing relief in third world countries, she has been an active member of planning committees which have provided support for local non-profits and especially those which benefit women and children. Every day she is devoted to continue expanding the vision and scope of the centers practice to become broader and more inclusive.
In her personal time, Stephanie enjoys reading, practicing vinyasa yoga, preparing delicious meals for her family, friends, and listening to a range of musical melodies. Stephanie’s wellness routine is founded in a deep yogic breathing and a daily morning vipassana meditation practice. Stephanie Wijkstrom intimately loves all things related to the earth, sky, and sea and she reveres in the power of nature as medicine, knowing that we all become a little more well when we connect with the outdoors, whether near Pittsburgh or as far as the amazon jungle, nature therapy is Stephanie’s favorite way to manage stress and unwind.
Stephanie accepts UPMC, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, Self Paying 150.00 per hour and Out of Network Insurance.
