Christina Rife, LPC, NCC is a therapist in our nearby Monroeville Counseling Center
As a counselor, Christina knows that life is full of challenges and experiences that can often overwhelm your reality. Christina empathizes and seeks to activate the healing journey with the struggles individuals have in adjusting and managing their emotional health and wellness. All of life is a transition and we are left to our devices in learning how to live life and thrive through those transitions. Her personal and academic experiences serve as a foundation for the work she is most passionate about: helping individuals discover they have the ability to make choices which foster a healthy mental, emotional, and physical well-being. “Empowerment through self-discovery.”
Individuals will learn how to navigate transitional challenges as they are guided through the therapeutic process. During this process, you will utilize self-reflection, insight, and discover patterns of emotions, thoughts, and behaviors that may have been ineffective or troublesome. Christina works with adults, women, adolescents, and couples struggling with challenges such as addiction, substance use, dysfunctional relationships, communication breakdown, low self-esteem, life purpose, women’s issues, depression, stress, and anxiety.
Christina has spent the last three years working with individuals struggling with addiction, substance use, and co-occuring mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression. Throughout her time at the drug and alcohol outpatient facility, she facilitated group therapy sessions for individuals in treatment; and at times, their family members and loved ones impacted by their use.
Christina’s approach to therapy is person centered utilizing CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and Motivational Interviewing to name a few. She uses a variety of evidence-based interventions to discover what will work best for you. Through self-awareness, self-discovery, and personal growth; individuals can move from maladaptive behaviors and expectations that have kept them stuck, and feeling hopeless. Individuals will find their voice through strategies that foster empowerment, fortitude and self-efficacy.
Christina earned her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, graduating with honors in 2016. She earned her Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from The Pennsylvania State University in 1991.
Prior to earning her Master’s degree, Christina was a stay at home mom for 16 years to her son and daughter. As a certified aromatherapist, Christina loves incorporating the use of essential oils into her therapy practice and mindfulness routines; which includes an ever growing, and waning toolbox of self-care methods. Christina spends her free time finding ways to foster a balance of her emotional, mental, and physical well-being.
