Brittany Moore is a passionate Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Board-Certified Oncology Social Worker (OSW-C), with numerous years of experience in medical and mental health settings including counseling in our Pittsburgh center. Brittany earned both her Bachelor and Master of Science in Social Work degrees, along with a certificate of psychosocial oncology, from the University of Louisville’s Raymond A. Kent School of Social Work. Brittany’s clinical experience of working with diverse populations includes, juvenile probation, foster care youth, school social work, and healthcare. In addition, she has provided clinical and administrative supervision to social work students, interns and professionals. Brittany’s specialties include, but are not limited to, restoration from anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, grief, loss, life changes, marriage and family issues, communication, relationship challenges, and trauma. In addition, Brittany also specializes in oncology counseling and medical trauma. She understands that any type of medical diagnosis can cause several reactions and changes, including the mind, body, and spirit. Trauma experienced as a result of medical procedures, illnesses, and hospital stays can have lasting effects. To alleviate these barriers, Brittany utilizes both her personal and professional experiences to remain holistic and help clients set goals to move forward in their lives using strengths-based approaches.
The core of Brittany’s practice is helping individuals reach their full potential. So often our self-doubts and assumptions about “what is or is not possible” hold us back from living our best life. Transitions are unique times when we are challenged to know ourselves more authentically, while having support and guidance can certainly enrich that experience. Brittany’s greatest satisfaction comes from helping people to reach their dreams. As a therapist, Brittany’s mission is to walk side by side with clients on their journey towards health and wholeness. Life presents many complexities and while we can’t change negative situations from our past, Brittany is compassionate about working together to gain insight and resolutions to current challenges. Brittany’s approach to therapy is client-centered utilizing MI (Motivational Interviewing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and System’s Theory. By combining a variety of therapy approaches and techniques with a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere, Brittany’s hope is that you will feel comfortable exploring issues that have become overwhelming. These advanced methods can promote healing and desired change in a unique, gentle and respectful manner.
In addition to private practice, Brittany currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Association of Oncology Social Work and a part-time Lecturer for the online social work program at the University of Louisville. Additionally, she is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education degree, with a concentration in Social and Comparative Policy Analysis. Nonetheless, Brittany emphasizes the notion of self-care and taking a proactive role to maintaining a good quality of life. In her free time, Brittany enjoys trying new cuisine, spending time with friends and family, traveling with her significant other, listening to music, and laughing uncontrollably!
Whether you are experiencing a difficult life transition or are just ready to create a life of cheerfulness and joy, Brittany looks forward to working with you.
