Allison Six
Hi, I’m Allison Six. With over 17 years of experience in the healthcare field, I am deeply committed to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to individuals aged 14 and up who are navigating complex challenges. My dual certifications as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) reflect a broad background that includes family medicine, addiction medication management, and hospice care. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, my approach is centered on understanding and empathy, aimed at addressing both the emotional and psychological difficulties that many people face.
In my career, I have encountered a wide range of concerns, from intense emotions and anxiety to depression and other mental health issues. I understand that these struggles can feel overwhelming and isolating, and I am here to assure you that you are not alone. These challenges are more common than one might think, and seeking support is a brave and positive step toward healing. It is crucial to me that you feel validated and supported throughout your journey.
Education and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Experience
Educationally, my journey began with a Diploma of Nursing from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 2007. I then pursued a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California University, which provided a strong foundation for my clinical skills. To further advance my expertise, I completed a Master of Science in Nursing for Family Nurse Practitioner and a Post-Master’s Certificate for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Duquesne University. I hold national board certifications for both FNP and PMHNP, reflecting my dedication to maintaining high standards in patient care.
Recently, I served at a concierge practice where I developed a specialized program focusing on mental health and weight loss. This role provided me with the opportunity to offer highly personalized care and design a program that integrated mental health support with strategies for effective weight management. The experience further enhanced my ability to address individual needs in a customized and supportive manner, emphasizing the importance of holistic wellness.
Currently, I am a part of the team at the Counseling & Wellness Center, where I continue to build on my extensive experience. My approach is collaborative and patient-centered, ensuring that each client receives care that is tailored to their unique needs. I work closely with clients to develop personalized treatment plans, and I emphasize that sometimes medication management may be an appropriate part of the treatment. If necessary, we will choose medications based on evidence-based practices, ensuring that the treatment plan is both effective and appropriate for your specific situation. Making informed decisions together is a cornerstone of my practice, always prioritizing your well-being.
Hobbies and Interests
On a personal note, I reside in Washington, PA, with my supportive husband, three energetic sons, and our two beloved dogs. My family is central to my life, and I cherish the moments spent attending my sons’ sporting events. When I’m not with my family or at work, I enjoy working out with friends, which helps me stay balanced and healthy. I also have a passion for traveling to warm, sunny destinations, which offers me a refreshing escape and a chance to recharge.
