Sara Taha
My name is Sara Taha, MS, NCC, and I am a culturally competent counselor passionate about helping individuals facing anxiety, depression, ADHD, navigating life transitions, fostering self-compassion, and coping with the everyday struggles we all face. As a Middle Eastern American woman, I understand the importance of multicultural counseling that is sensitive and culturally competent. I hold a special interest in helping and working with BIPOC women, immigrants, adolescents, and adults of immigrant and refugee backgrounds.
My goal is to provide an inclusive, warm, and compassionate space for you to explore your feelings and experiences in a collaborative, reflective, and culturally-sensitive manner. I believe that reaching out for help is a courageous step.
Life can feel overwhelming, and it’s common to encounter periods of sadness, worry, or uncertainty. Whether you’re feeling trapped by anxiety, struggling with persistent low moods, or just finding it hard to manage daily stressors, I want you to know that you’re not alone. Together, we can work to understand the challenges you’re facing and develop coping tools to help you navigate them
I take a strength-based, person-centered approach, rooted in multicultural counseling and culturally sensitive care. I incorporate self-reflective questioning and collaboration, drawing from a range of evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness techniques. Above all, I believe in the importance of self-compassion, inclusivity, and trauma-informed culturally-sensitive care.
Education and Experience
I began my academic journey at the University of Pittsburgh, earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology followed by a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and am currently pursuing licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
Throughout my clinical experience, I’ve worked extensively with adolescents and young adults, particularly those with disabilities and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). In educational settings, I provided career counseling, transition support, vocational counseling, and rehabilitation, helping students prepare for life after high school. I’m passionate about continuing to offer this kind of support to anyone seeking guidance through these transitions.
Hobbies and Activities
I’m a serial hobbyist with a passion for exploring new experiences. Whether it’s immersing myself in art, savoring the nuances of coffee as a connoisseur, discovering charming cafes and restaurants, or expressing my creativity through painting, I love to embrace variety. Staying active and spending quality time with my loved ones and my cat are also essential to my joyful lifestyle.
