Ron Freedman, LCSW, approaches counseling through a client-centered lens. He believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship, and sees therapy as a collaborative effort between the therapist and the client. He will work with you to create an individualized treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Ron utilizes several therapeutic models, including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, EMDR and Psychoeducational and Mind/Body techniques.
Ron is well versed and experienced in supporting clients experiencing a variety of problems. He can also coordinate with medical and psychiatric providers and has a sound knowledge of the medications that are used by these providers to treat these problems.
Education & Experience
Ron began his counseling career in 1991 when he worked with individuals on parole or probation due to substance abuse. This experience propelled his desire to become a clinical social worker. He earned a masters degree in social work in 1998 and has been a licensed clinical social worker since 2004.
Over the last 18 years Ron has had the satisfaction and pleasure of counseling men, women, children, families and groups ranging in ages from 9 to 90 years old. They have been from Caucasian, African-American, Asian-Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern and Hispanic races and cultures. He has worked with people in various stages of their lives.
Ron has provided counseling in community and mental health clinics, military installations and the Department of Veterans Affairs Readjustment Counseling Service though most of his career has been in outpatient environments.
