Lynne Young
LCSW
Lynne Young is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with more than 20 years providing supportive counseling and coaching to help people achieve their goals. Lynne’s goal as a therapist is to provide a safe space to process the issues and feelings that arise during times of stress, change and uncertainty.
Her areas of experience include grief and loss, depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, trauma, life transitions, stress management, parenting, and self-esteem. Lynne strives to help individuals develop healthy coping strategies and make positive changes in their lives in a non-judgmental and collaborative way. Lynne helps clients explore their thoughts, feelings, and emotions with curiosity, not judgment, using a holistic approach which includes cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction, grief therapy and supportive counseling.
Education and Experience
Lynne’s path to becoming a therapist was not a straight one – but as she has found, few paths are! Lynne always had an interest in psychology but somehow, after entertaining careers in art history and law, found social work, getting a master’s degree in clinical social work from the University of Pittsburgh. Lynne worked with families and children for 10 years, before jumping way out of her comfort zone and starting a business with her husband. She suddenly became an accountant, a marketer, and finally found her niche doing pre-employment testing, professional coaching, team building, and handling employee wellness and mental health issues.
Lynne is so excited to be working as a therapist once again. She is aware that we all face challenges, uncertainties, and worries, and whether we like it or not, we get pushed out of our comfort zone. We all want to feel heard and understood. Lynne can do that. Lynne will work with you with an understanding of where you are today, and where you would like to be tomorrow. No problem occurs in a vacuum, so discussions of health and wellness, relationships, and work issues, can be incorporated within boundaries that make you feel safe and comfortable.
Lynne’s combination of professional training, work history, and life experiences will allow her to serve you with compassion and understanding.
Hobbies and Interests
Lynne has been married for nearly 30 years and has 3 (nearly!) grown children. She understands the challenges of raising a family while working, and how today’s workplace stressors affect men and women, their relationships, and their families.
