

Sharissa Shatten
Sharissa Shatten, MS, LPC, NCC is a licensed and certified counselor providing emotional support to children and adults in our Monroeville Counseling Center. She believes in healing the mind, body, and soul, or the whole person through holistic therapy. Sharissa begins by building trust and rapport with her clients because it is important for the client to believe that they have a voice in maintaining their health. Sharissa works with clients utilizing mindfulness techniques to enhance inner strengths and abilities to increase their levels of self-worth and self-love. She incorporates positive self-talk, mindfulness and meditation, art and creative therapy and other remedies. She has experience in shadow work, imposter syndrome, family drug addiction, and other topics of interest to her clients. Sharissa has effectively worked with children ages 5-18 to assist them in overcoming stress, effects of bullying, and self-love.
Sharissa recognizes everyone heals differently and will meet each person where they are. She believes in healing the mind, body, and soul, or the whole person. She will provide you with a safe space where you can both be open, honest and respectful with one another. Sharissa would be honored to help you find the best version of you, as your best self!
Education & Experience
Sharissa graduated with her Masters degree in Professional Counseling from Carlow University where she also obtained her School Counseling certification. She is also certified to teach kids and teen yoga, and also is a Reiki Master.
Sharissa chose to be in school for many years outside of the typical 4-year Bachelors and 2-year Masters programs. Her education background, life and career experiences will further help her help you. Sharissa’s theories of practice are through the lens of being solution focused, client centered and trauma informed, among an eclectic compilation of many others, including mindfulness, reiki, and other creative techniques in order to heal the whole person.
Outside of Counseling and Wellness Center of Pittsburgh, Sharissa is a full-time school counselor in a school district in Butler County. On occasion she teaches kids and teen yoga classes in local studios.
Hobbies & Interests
Sharissa takes adult tap dance classes. Other hobbies of hers includes taking yoga classes, HIIT training at a local place in the strip district, being a Sweatnet ambassador, supporting others and continued research of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), crystal and energy work, among other outlets. She lives with her husband of 10 years and four fur-babies just outside of Pittsburgh.
