Stacey Strecker
Hello! My name is Stacey Strecker, LAPC. I am a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor and have a passion for child & adolescent therapy and working with their families. I also provide adult individual therapy. I understand that seeking therapy can be a challenging and vulnerable step, often accompanied by a wide range of emotions. I am here to walk alongside you in that journey, offering empathy and understanding as you confront life’s challenges.
I believe that the early stages of emotional development during childhood and adolescence are crucial to lifelong well-being. My goal is to guide families through the complexities of this journey, empowering them to connect deeply and grow together.
My holistic therapeutic approach integrates various modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), solution-focused strategies, trauma-informed care, somatic therapy, mindfulness techniques, and play therapy. By incorporating play into the therapeutic process, I engage children and adolescents in ways that feel natural and relatable, facilitating communication and emotional expression. This diverse toolkit allows me to tailor my methods to meet the unique needs of each client, fostering a nurturing environment that promotes personal growth and emotional resilience.
In my practice, I support children, adolescents, and adults in navigating a variety of challenges, including ADD/ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, depression, relationship changes, grief, and developmental transitions. I also provide specialized guidance in adult, child, and family therapy, with a deep understanding of the complex dynamics that influence and shape familial relationships.
I am committed to establishing strong therapeutic relationships characterized by trust, empathy, and warmth. Creating a safe, non-judgmental space encourages individuals to explore vulnerabilities and seek help. Whether working with a child experiencing anxiety, a teenager navigating emotional upheaval, or adults facing life transitions, I am driven by a genuine desire to see individuals and families thrive, helping them build the tools necessary for emotional regulation and well-being.
Education & Experience
I hold a Master’s degree in School Counseling from a CACREP-accredited mental health counseling program at Andrews University. Additionally, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Education, specializing in Special Education, from The Ohio State University. With 15 years of experience as a school counselor and educational facilitator, I have dedicated my career to building capacity in children, adolescents, and the adults who support them.
Throughout my career, I have found my work with parents and educators in service to children to be especially rewarding. This collaborative approach has allowed me to foster a supportive environment for young people and facilitate meaningful growth. Currently, I am actively working towards my full licensure while expanding my skills and expertise in working with children and adults outside of an educational setting, further broadening my ability to make a positive impact in diverse therapeutic contexts.
Hobbies & Interests
In my free time, I cherish moments with my family, often gathered around a table playing cards and engaging in lively conversation. Self-care is essential to me, and I find balance through reading, hiking, and meditating and find it incredibly soothing cuddling with my two pups, Lucy and Bucky, who always brighten my day. I feel most at peace, though, when I am out on the water. The Great Lakes hold a special place in my heart. I was born and raised near Lake Michigan and now spend a lot of time on Lake Erie. Whether I’m jet-skiing, fishing, relaxing, or chasing a great sunset, those moments on the water are where I truly recharge and connect with nature.
