Education & Experience
Teresa received both her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and her Master of Science in Education at Duquesne University where she became a member of Chi Sigma Iota, an international honors society that values academic and professional excellence in counseling.
She worked as a therapist through Behavioral Health Rehabilitative Services aiding families with children diagnosed with behavioral and mental health issues including, but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Teresa has provided in-home Family-Based Services to many families in crises to strengthen the family system and prevent a child from out-of-home placement. For over 9 years, she has enjoyed facilitating therapy to children in foster care and families affected by the foster care system. She has assisted in children reunifying with their families of origin as well as becoming adopted by foster families. She finds that a united front with all involved in treatment is key to successful change. Teresa has also trained numerous foster parents with an internationally recognized curriculum to prepare them from a systemic and clinical standpoint. She believes that a positive home environment produces confident parents and healthy child development.
She has provided supervision to those seeking licensure as well as foster parents regarding the youth in their care.
