Dr. Andrea Lefebvre
Dr. Andrea Lefebvre, Psy.D., LPC is a psychologist who works with individuals, families, and provides psychological assessment services including ADHD Testing. She has 20 years of experience in the mental health field and works with both adolescents and adults. Trained in both Bowen Family Systems Theory and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dr. Lefebvre believes in using a holistic (mind-body-spirit connection) approach to helping clients. She has experience working with: Depression, PTSD, Anxiety, Work/School stressors, Substance Use Disorders, Relationship Issues, and Psychosis Related Disorders. Additionally, Dr. Lefebvre strives to be affirming of LGBTQIA+ and gender diverse populations as well as individuals of different cultural/ ethnic backgrounds. Dr. Lefebvre is collaborative in her treatment approach with clients and always open to learning what works best for her clients. (No one likes a know-it-all!)
Education and Experience
After graduating with her master’s degree in Art Therapy and Counseling from Ursuline College (2008), Dr. Lefebvre was a school-based therapist in the Cleveland Metropolitan Schools, in Cleveland, OH for several years. She later worked as a dual diagnosis outpatient therapist for adults and adolescents at a community mental health agency in Ashtabula, OH.
Dr. Lefebvre went on to obtain her doctorate in clinical psychology from Union Institute and University in Cincinnati, OH (2016). During which time, she received training in psychological testing (including ADHD assessment). While earning her Psy.D., Dr. Lefebvre completed her pre-doctoral internship at a community mental health agency in Wheeling, WV.
She enjoyed the experience working in Appalachian mental health so much, Dr. Lefebvre stayed with this clinic for several years. During her time working with this agency, Dr. Lefebvre assisted in piloting an inaugural First Episode Psychosis (FEP) program for the state of West Virginia. The program was later expanded to multiple FEP clinics, The Quiet Minds Program, throughout the state. Dr. Lefebvre provided clinical direction for her agency’s Quiet Minds program for many years. Her experience and research in working with individuals with psychosis related disorders culminated in her being lead author of the book, Group Therapy for Voice Hearers: Insights and Perspectives (Lefebvre, Sears, Ossege, 2019), published by Rutledge.
Over the past several years, Dr. Lefebvre worked with clients in both acute and chronic states of mental distress, facilitated numerous therapy groups related to mental health and substance abuse, and provided supervision/training for pre-licensed/early career mental health providers. Dr. Lefebvre became certified in forensic commitment assessment in 2019 through the West Virginia Board of Examiners in Psychology and was regularly called upon to provide testimony in involuntary commitment hearings.
In June 2024, Andrea Lefebvre, PhD was promoted to Supervisor of Psychological Services. In this new role, Dr. Lefebvre will oversee and guide our expanding team of talented psychologists, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to our clients. She will be responsible for developing and implementing new strategies, providing mentorship and support to her psychology colleagues as well as clinician colleagues who may have questions about assessment and diagnosis.
Hobbies and Interests
In her free time, Dr. Lefebvre enjoys hanging out with her family and friends. She can be found reading, playing piano, boxing, discovering new bands, making art, or completing the NYT crossword. Dr. Lefebvre is also an animal lover, will profusely compliment/ask to see your pet if we are doing a tele-health and there is a chance your animal is nearby. Lastly fun fact: Dr. Lefebvre is a Level 3 Reiki Master of the Usui Lineage and loves talking/sharing about this healing modality with others!
