Career Counseling and Therapy
Tess Elford is a therapist offering emotional support who will guide you towards self- development and awareness. She believes the client-therapist relationship is the first priority in working towards your goals. To achieve a productive therapeutic relationship, Tess provides a supportive and empathetic environment where growth flourishes. Some of Tess’s greatest therapeutic passions lie in offering career counseling which allows clients of all ages to understand their skill sets and find a positive future path which best fits their innate skills and personality. She is passionate about seeing others unlock their greatest potential and enjoys being a part of that as a clinician working with youth, adults, and families.
Education & Experience
Tess holds a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Psychology from Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida. She is currently working towards her Master of the Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania where she is concentrating on youth and adult studies. Throughout her undergraduate degree, Tess was highly involved with a local non-profit organization supporting survivors of domestic violence. Throughout this time she had the opportunity to create and present educational workshops to her campus community regarding numerous topics within domestic violence awareness. Tess also led her campus organization as the Vice President of Philanthropy and raising over $10,000 through the planning and execution of on-campus fundraising events.
During her time as a Master’s student, Tess has worked for the last 2 years as a Career Coach for Slippery Rock University’s Career Education and Development Office. During this time Tess met with over 2,000 undergraduate, graduate, and alumni students to coach them through how to best prepare for their professional career futures.
Hobbies & Interests
In her free time, you will almost always find Tess taking long walks with her doxie pup, Oscar, down the Allegheny River Trail. She loves exploring the city and trying all the best foodie spots Pittsburgh has to offer. Tess spends much time with her family, friends, and loved ones and takes advantage of any time she can find to travel and explore new places.
