Lisa Nard
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Lisa Nard, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker who has been providing treatment throughout the greater Pittsburgh area for fifteen years. Prior to this, she began her career in Social Work in the Western and Central New York regions. She utilizes evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing as the primary approach to supporting clients in achieving their goals.
Lisa is a strong advocate of breaking down stigma surrounding mental health diagnosis and believes mental health treatment should be accessible to everyone who requires the support. She has worked with individuals new to mental health treatment to create treatment plans that are customized to address specifically identified needs, while also incorporating empirically backed interventions to support each client in achieving their wanted changes. Lisa engages clients with an encouraging, supportive, and respectful manner to support working as a team throughout the process.
Education and Experience
Lisa obtained a master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Pittsburgh, and became a licensed clinical social worker after several years as a master level clinician. She continues to pursue training and other experiences to ensure that she is providing the best treatment experience as possible.
Lisa graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a degree in sociology, with a focus on social justice and breaking down accessibility barriers to mental health and physical health treatment. A primary focus in this line of study was identifying community supports and resources to encourage the use of natural supports along with professional services. This holistic approach continues to be a focus in treatment while supporting individuals in finding the resources they need in the communities nearest to them.
She has worked in community mental health services providing outpatient treatment, in home services, and in substance use disorder centers. Lisa has experience providing Family Based treatment, working with individuals in recovery from substance use, as well as addressing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and adjustment disorders.
In addition, she has experience working with people who have experienced abuse, neglect, or poor boundaries with their families of origin. Lisa supports each client in working towards establishing a healthy self-image, self-acceptance, and positive relationships with those in their lives. She has worked with adults, children, adolescents, and families. She became a therapist because of a strong belief in the ability of individuals to grow, heal, and work towards a healthier future. Lisa strives to provide a safe and judgement free environment throughout the time in therapy.
Hobbies and Interests
Lisa enjoys spending time outdoors, especially when working on creating bird and bee friendly gardens. Hiking local trails is also a frequent outdoor adventure. She also enjoys traveling with friends and family, where a big part of the fun is researching what opportunities are available at each destination. Lisa has also begun to take on amateur home improvement ventures with mostly positive results. Self-care includes playing with the family’s two cats while watching a current favorite show and finding all of the gluten free bakeries in the area.
