Alicia Burkey
Alicia A Burkey LPC, CAADC is a licensed therapist who believes the hardest part of this journey is taking the risk to ask for help. It is not an easy task to allow yourself to become vulnerable. Alicia seeks to help individuals and couples find the answers they are looking for to live the life you want and deserve. Together in a therapeutic setting, Alicia collaborates to identify goals and establish a trauma informed treatment plan that is tailored to your individual and couples needs. She implements the five stages of change into the treatment provided to help facilitate steps towards change that the individual and couple are seeking.
Alicia’s focus of counseling is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while also creating a safe and empathic, non-judgmental and therapeutic environment. By helping the individual identify the root of their core beliefs and thoughts this allows the individual to alter their perception that has led to unwanted behaviors and outcomes. In addition to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Alicia also provides treatment modalities such as Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing (MI), relapse prevention and Gottman Method couples therapy.
Alicia has experience in providing counseling for a variety of aged individuals and couples with substance use disorders, eating disorders, self-esteem issues, mood (depression) and anxiety disorders (GAD, OCD, PTSD), grief and loss, trauma, personality disorders, life stress, and relationship issues. It is important to her to create a space that allows the individual and couples to explore, process, and create change.
