Stephanie Stitt
Affordable Therapist
As an intern at the Counseling and Wellness Center of Pittsburgh, Stephanie Stitt, MS is an affordable therapist offering low cost therapy. Stephanie is passionate about helping individuals express their true emotions in a space guided with compassion and an inner driven approach that is free of judgement. There are points in everyone’s lives that may become unmanageable due to transitions, conflicts or a realization that may require the assistance of a counselor to help the client navigate forward in their journey. Counseling can be a valuable resource with lifelong tools to resolve past and present issues in people’s lives. Stephanie believes in a strong therapeutic alliance to help individuals heal, grow and change beyond the issues that are daunting their lives.
Stephanie strongly believes that clients are the experts of their own lives and her role as a counselor is to open doors to experiences to be explored and discuss challenging topics. Stephanie’s approach is guided from theories such as person centered, psychodynamic or cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and focuses on meeting the client where the client is on their journey to growth and healing. Stephanie focuses on creating goals together with the client and assessing these goals together through the therapeutic relationship. Stephanie’s approach with different theories allows for treating an array of psychological conditions as needed in a clinical setting.
Some of Stephanie’s strengths are her communication, deep empathetic listening to understand the other person, self love, valuing others and accepting others for their own beliefs and values. A constant reminder for Stephanie is to continue to be a better version of herself. Similar to a speech Stephanie heard which asked, “Who’s your hero? I thought about it and said it’s me in ten years. You see, every day, and every week, and every month, and every year of my life, my hero is always ten years away. I’m never going to be my hero. I’m not going to obtain that and that’s fine with me because it keeps me with somebody to keep on chasing”-Matthew McConaughey.
