As an intern psychotherapist at the Counseling and Wellness Center of Pittsburgh, Kara Sambuchino, B.S., M.A. is proud to offer affordable therapy because we believe that financial hardships should not stand in the way of mental health treatment. Therapy can be life changing and everyone should have access to affordable therapy.
While obtaining her first Master’s in Psychology, Kara gained a keen focus on clinical diagnosis and treatment planning. Kara has worked with children, adolescents, and adults specializing in a multitude of mental health diagnoses, including; depression, anxiety, couples therapy, divorce, child custody mediation, and personality, attachment, and eating disorders. Kara has extensive knowledge of intake assessments, history dissection, family interventions, and clinical diagnosis. She is whole heartedly inclusive and supportive to those in the LGBTQ+ community.
As we embark on various stages of life, it brings about many obstacles and uncertain times that can be challenging to navigate alone. Kara honors the privilege of facilitating an empathetic compass toward better mental health for families, couples, or individuals of all ages. Kara will implement an appropriate and custom-tailored therapy. Her years of research provide clients with the best chance of proven overall life betterment.
Education & Experience
Kara graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s in Health Science. She continued to acquire a Master’s in Psychology from Touro University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Kara maintains a 4.0 GPA at Touro University as she completes her second Master in Marriage and Family Therapy. Kara is a standing American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy member. She has extensive research in divorce therapy and mediation, co-parenting, child custody, and adolescent anxiety. She plans to continue her research by obtaining a doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Kara’s life experience has fueled her passion and desire to serve others with a compassionate understanding of equality, diversion, and inclusion.

Working with a Counseling and Wellness Center of Pittsburgh intern means you’ll get direct support from a counselor in training backed by an entire team of experts! The intern will get the experience they need to help even more people, and you will get support from a group of amazing therapists. All of our interns offer Sliding Scale Therapy.
Hobbies & Interests
Kara spends her free time with her children and their Cavapoo dog, Bentley. Kara volunteers as a Cross Country Coach for her children’s elementary school. For leisure, she enjoys playing tennis and running,
