Angelique Coleman, MSPC, NCC, LPC is a Certified and Licensed Professional Counselor who believes that therapy is a collaborative process and guides clients to increase self-awareness, gain new perspectives, decrease symptoms, and increase personal strengths to make life more meaningful. Angelique’s therapeutic approaches include but are not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Mindfulness, Person-centered therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Angelique supports that in utilizing these approaches, it allows her clients to be in control of their healing journey as they focus on becoming the best version of themselves.
Through her work, she strives to foster a safe space where clients can tell their story, gain insight into how they have been impacted, become motivated to identify their challenges and engage in Self-Actualization to create a new reality that is more fulfilling for them. Angelique sees every client as being unique. Through a supportive relationship, a space is developed to safely process and nurture the courage to be imperfect without judgement. Collaboratively, treatment plans and interventions are tailored to create goals that will meet the client’s needs.
With years of experience serving children, families and individuals, Angelique’s areas of knowledge include trauma therapy, chemical dependency, mood disorders, behavioral and emotional disorders in children, low self-esteem and relationship dynamics. She also encourages her clients to pursue a holistic approach to health, incorporating exercise, proper sleep and nutrition, nurturing relationships, and activities that they enjoy. In addition, Angelique’s goal as a therapist is to help clients use the skills they already have while learning new skills to enhance the development of appropriate insights and perceptions as well as discover a meaningful and healthy balance in their lives.
Angelique spent a vast majority of her professional career working with the at-risk population. Throughout the years, she has encountered children, teenagers, adults and families who needed guidance in relation to; mood and personality disorders, trauma, family conflict, anxiety, behavioral concerns, cognitive disabilities, substance abuse and criminal history. Angelique has received certifications for Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused CBT, Solution Focused and Sanctuary Model therapeutic interventions.
Angelique’s humble beginnings started in the field of counseling over 32 years ago and she loves it just as much now as she did then. As a clinician, Angelique’s personal philosophy is “therapy is an art that enhances overall wellness and encompasses the journey of healing and renewed opportunities that inspires and promotes change”. Angelique earned both her Bachelor’s in Psychology and Master’s in Professional Counseling from Carlow University. Angelique enjoys reading, working out, traveling various Islands to inhibit their beaches for 7-10 days, family time and eating good foods she doesn’t have to cook. Angelique also has a talent for creating “beauty” as an event planner to make people’s special day extraordinary and stress-free.
