Liz Brendlinger
Liz Brendlinger, LPC, is a board certified Licensed Professional Counselor who has been practicing in the mental health field for over 10 years. Liz utilizes many therapy and counseling modalities to help people in their mental health journey. She believes in connecting not only with the mind but body as well. It is important to make sure all areas are being addressed in order to achieve wellness. Liz teaches clients mindfulness, meditation, grounding, CBT skills, and breathing techniques, to name a few. Liz provides a combination of techniques to help people reach their full potential.
Liz understands the myriad of emotions someone might struggle with when considering therapy and counseling. It is not always an easy thing to face parts of oneself that might need improvement. Liz works to build a positive, encouraging relationship with each client while providing support. She is open minded and accepting of all people. Being able to feel comfortable with your therapist is of utmost importance. Liz strives to build that trusting relationship and help each individual feel welcomed. Liz makes sure that everyone she works with feels valued and respected. Each person’s own beliefs and values will be incorporated into their sessions. She will never push her own opinions, views, or beliefs.
Liz has vast experience with a variety of diagnoses such as Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Gender Dysphoria, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Major Depressive Disorder. Liz has worked with many clients through the grieving process when facing the loss of loved ones. Each loss is unique and brings its own challenges and sorrows. Understanding the emotions one might go through and feeling validated in whatever those feelings may be is invaluable to healing. Liz also has helped many people that struggle with gender dysphoria. Not only can it be difficult to deal with the complex emotions one faces in this situation but also the social implications. Liz has helped people successfully transition to become the person they feel they truly are inside. Whether it is challenges with family, self-esteem, or just needing to not feel alone, Liz can provide the support someone needs in therapy and counseling to become their true self.
Education and Experience
Liz’s educational background includes a Master’s degree from Duquesne University and a Bachelor’s degree from Washington and Jefferson College where she received her teaching certificate. She is a certified guidance counselor and licensed professional counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. She has been in the community counseling setting for the past 13 years, which provided her a variety of experiences. In addition to traditional counseling, Liz has worked in the school districts, providing counseling to students of all ages. She has worked in group settings with clients that have more intense therapy needs. She has provided day programming to individuals to help manage their mental health needs while also improving skills to be more self-sufficient.
Hobbies and Interests
In her personal time, Liz enjoys spending time with her family which include her three children. They enjoy movie nights, going to the park, swimming, and travel. Disney World is a family favorite and they go as often as possible. In her free time, Liz’s hobbies include community theatre and singing. She has been in several local productions recently and continues honing her skills through private vocal instruction. She loves to travel and continues to find new places to explore each year. Liz understands the importance of balancing work and personal life for one’s mental health. She strives to accomplish this in her day to day life and will help her client’s achieve the same.
