Art Therapy for Kids: Nervous System Reset Group
Looking for “art therapy for kids near me?”
Welcome to our Nervous System Reset Group!
This 90 minute workshop gives children ages 7 to 11 a hands on way to understand what happens in their bodies when they feel big feelings, and simple tools to settle themselves down. Using art therapy techniques, movement, breathing, music, and play, kids learn mindfulness in a format that actually fits how they learn: by doing, not by sitting still and listening. Every child leaves with a handout of what we practiced so the skills carry into home and school.
What to Expect:
- Interactive Activities: Kids move through hands on exercises rather than sitting through a lecture, so the skills stick.
- Breathwork and Body Awareness: Simple breathing practices children can use in a classroom, a car, or a bedroom when things feel like too much.
- Grounding Through the Senses: Practical techniques that use sight, sound, and touch to bring a racing nervous system back to calm.
- Creative Expression: Art therapy techniques, music, and play give children a way to work through feelings they do not yet have words for.
- Take Home Tools: Each participant receives handouts with psychoeducation and practice prompts to continue at home.
- Supportive Small Group: A warm, judgment free space where kids discover other children feel the same way they do.
No prior experience or therapy background is needed to join.

If your child struggles with big emotions, worry, or trouble settling down, this group offers a gentle, playful place to build real regulation skills. No prerequisites are required, and no prior therapy experience is needed. Spots are limited so that every child gets individual attention.
Group leader, Emily Miller, MSW, LSW, works with children, teens, and families and brings together cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, psychoeducation, somatic therapy, and art and play therapy techniques. Her approach meets children where they are, using creativity and movement rather than asking them to talk their way through something they may not yet be able to name.
Every child deserves a space where their feelings are welcome and their nervous system can rest. That is what we have built here.
