Nicolette Hillen, LPC is a humanistic therapist who has been working in the mental health field for 15 years. She is proud to be providing counseling services both in person and virtual at Counseling and Wellness Center of Pittsburgh’s Greensburg Counseling Center. Her therapy style is unique and effective, she is committed to offering a non-judgmental therapeutic environment for individuals and couples to explore themselves, their needs, and achieve their goals. She believes that through professional guidance, individuals can autonomously uncover core issues that stand as barriers and challenges to reaching their full potential. Through a rational and holistic approach to psychotherapy, she is driven to provide counseling that will assist the individual or couple on an in-depth journey of self discovery.
Nicolette completed her undergraduate education at the University of Pittsburgh, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. While working in psychological research at the University, and in psychotherapy at Western Psychiatric Institute & Clinic, she gathered a wealth of experience and was inspired to pursue a clinical track in Counseling Psychology at Chatham University to earn a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology degree. Since graduation, Nicolette has been employed in many sectors of mental health including: hospital settings in Pittsburgh and Westmoreland County, forensic settings, and private practice settings where she has helped a variety of clients who are working with couples struggling with intimacy, communication, infidelity, co-parenting, and medical or mental health diagnosis, as well as a variety of individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, severe mental disorders, substance use disorders, personality disorders, and relationship dynamics including grieving a loss of a relationship. In addition, Nicolette has worked in academic settings as a Staff Counselor at the University of Pittsburgh Counseling Center and the Counseling Department at Clarion University.
Nicolette has training in mindfulness and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) for stress and anxiety management; as well as a background in Gestalt and Jungian methods of psychotherapy. She also has a professional background in the arts, both visual and movement, which can have therapeutic utility for some individuals. To assist a variety of clients, Nicolette also has a diverse background in cultural anthropology and spiritualism.
When she is not providing therapy to her clients, Nicolette has many things she enjoys doing for her wellbeing, she is a lover of live music, she practices kundalini yoga, hiking, reading, spiritual research/growth opportunities, and visual art.
