She emphasizes mindfulness, self-acceptance, skill building, and strengths-based approach. She is devoted to helping people through significant life changes that may cause some emotional distress. Shannon is committed to assisting clients in healing past heartaches and emotional wounds. Shannon believes people are doing the best they can and they want to improve their lives. Her clients appreciate her gentle nature and genuineness, because she can not expect you to be your real self, if she is not. Shannon utilizes a variety of techniques, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Humanistic Approach, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Therapeutic Play, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered, and Trauma Focused.
Shannon, a Philadelphia native, earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Forensic Sociology from Rosemont College, commonly known as the sister school of Villanova University, Go Wildcats! After some life experience, Shannon went on to earn her Master’s of Science in Counseling Psychology from Holy Family University. Developing her perspective on the relationship between social factors, family systems, and mental wellness.
Shannon’s passion for online counseling started while volunteering as a peer and hotline counselor for survivors of domestic violence. With training and experience in the domestic violence field, She takes a strength-based approach to promote healthy self-esteem and improve self-worth. As Carl Rogers said, “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” She enjoys working with individuals on developing healthy interpersonal relationships, learning effective communication skills, resolving relationship conflict, and increasing interconnectedness.
When not providing online counseling, you will find Shannon cuddling with her senior dog while binge watching a good TV show. Yes, she is a proud dog mama! She is new to the plant and gardening world, and has found peace in growing and cultivating both her indoor and outdoor plants. She also loves expressing her creativity through making things, you will find her making anything from suncatchers to crocheting blankets. To be honest, Shannon is a total therapy-geek and enjoys reading and attending trainings on mental wellness, especially if it involves neuropsychology and neurobiology. Shannon absolutely loves what she does and she wants to journey through this with you!
