Lauren Brewer, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor, who is offering in person and online therapy appointments. While Lauren is an online therapist, she is currently taking new clients including individuals and couples in our Pittsburgh Counseling Center as well.
Lauren believes a strong therapeutic relationship is key to a successful therapeutic experience. She meets clients where they are, with an empathic and nonjudgmental approach. Her goal is to create a safe space where her clients feel supported and empowered to heal and achieve a richer, fuller life.
Lauren aims to work collaboratively with the individuals and couples she serves, in order to assist them in gaining insight and increased self-awareness. During the therapy process, she guides clients to help them work on identifying negative and/or blocking beliefs and help form more positive perspective-taking and a more optimistic outlook. Some other factors that are commonly addressed in therapy are problematic behaviors and unhealthy or ineffective ways of coping. Lauren assists in helping clients discover their full potential and provide the support and encouragement to promote growth and change. Utilizing a trauma-informed approach, Lauren assists clients to achieve a better understanding of how their trauma history continues to impact them and work to resolve issues related to their trauma.
Lauren’s experience includes but is not limited to managing stress, depression, anxiety, addiction and substance abuse, post-traumatic stress, relationship issues, and difficult transitional life experiences. She has also worked with many individuals with chronic mental health challenges, including dual-diagnosis, mood and personality disorders, dissociative disorders, and psychosis-related disorders.
As part of meeting clients where they are, Lauren uses an integrative approach to meet clients specific, individual needs. Lauren is skilled in utilizing various approaches, including Person-centered, Humanistic, Cognitive-behavioral therapy, Dialectical-behavioral therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Reality therapy, Solution-focused, and Acceptance and Commitment therapy.
Other areas Lauren is passionate about integrating into therapy are aspects related to the mind-body experience. She assists clients with utilizing techniques to feel closer, more secured, and at peace with oneself. Some of these techniques include mindfulness, meditation, and grounding. Lauren is also passionate about helping client’s achieve intentional living. This involves in-depth exploration of clients morals, values, and goals and using this insight to achieve a gratified and fulfilled lifestyle.
Lauren is devoted to her own self-care (and encourages her clients to do the same)! She enjoys spending time with family and friends and her two cats, practicing yoga and other forms of exercise, and spending time outdoors. Some of her other interests include cooking and baking, watching sports, and traveling.
