Rebecca Wells is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in PA who provides mental health counseling services at our Monroeville location of the Counseling and Wellness Center of Pittsburgh. At this time, Rebecca is happy to offer in-person and telehealth sessions. Rebecca’s goal is to create a comfortable, engaging, and open space for all clients, and to respect and value their individuality.
Rebecca provides counseling to people struggling with mood and anxiety disorders. This might include anxiety attacks, depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, as well as general life stressors. She loves watching people grow, build motivation, and confidence in their daily lives, finding more meaning and joy each day.
She began her career working as a crisis counselor for victims of trauma, particularly those affected by sexual assault. She provided acute advocacy to people in medical, court, and community settings to promote healing immediately after a traumatic event. Rebecca enjoys working with people as they work through trauma to uncover their potential, and to heal from their past. Rebecca lives by the quote by Victor Hugo, “Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.” She welcomes the chance to help you heal from acute, chronic and complex trauma. She believes that no hurt is too big or small to work through and heal from.
Rebecca also has 5 years of experience with drug and alcohol addiction and co-occurring disorders in inpatient and outpatient settings. She enjoys helping people struggling with unhelpful coping skills find a more positive way to cope with stressors and trauma. She has also worked with clients struggling with body image issues and eating disorders. Rebecca believes that anyone can heal from addiction and understands that often, replacing those unhelpful but familiar ways we manage stress and pain is a process that is often painful but certainly worthwhile and doable.
She also has experience providing advocacy for clients involved with the criminal justice system as well as forensic evaluations for courts, jail, and other community agencies.
She utilizes Person-Centered therapy as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as a way to build mastery and create measurable goals. She enjoys working with individuals and couples to create more effective and healthy communication skills. She loves watching people’s relationships grow and flourish through uncovering and replacing common cognitive distortions we all struggle with from time to time.
Rebecca has a passion for working with folx to embrace their individuality, whether that’s in gender expression, sexuality, race, religion, or any other way that makes you wonderfully unique.
When not providing therapy, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 cats, getting outside to hike and see nature, as well as well as curling up to watch a scary movie on the couch with good company. She enjoys working out, collecting gemstones and crystals, and is forever designing her next tattoo.
Please don’t hesitate to contact Rebecca today with any questions you may have about therapy. For many people, beginning the process of therapy can be the most intimidating part. Her hope is to prevent those barriers and chat with you about what you want for your life, what you hope to accomplish in therapy, and how we can work together.
