Ashley Hess, M.S., LPC, CAADC is a counselor who believes that every person has the potential and drive for self-actualization. Self-actualization being the “need for personal growth and discovery.” Ashley emphasizes self-care, addressing negative thinking, exploring values and beliefs, and the nurturing of one’s natural strengths to promote recovery. Ashley believes in the power of therapy and the therapeutic relationship to help meaningful growth and change occur. Ashley’s goal is to create a collaborate, non-judgmental, and safe environment which allows for the development of tools or “coping skills” in order to increase personal well-being.
Ashley received her Bachelors degree in Psychology in 2015 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with a minor in Sociology. She also earned her Masters of Science deg
ree in Counseling Psychology in 2017 from Chatham University. Ashley holds professional designation as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC). Ashley has extensive experience working in the addictions field, and in the treatment of co-occurring disorders. The areas which she has proven experience in treating include, but are not limited to addiction, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, communication skills, bipolar disorder, self-esteem, stress, codependency, and personality disorders. Ashley utilizes treatment approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
In her personal time, you can find Ashley spending time with family & friends, listening to music, and enjoying her weekly spin class. Ashley believes in the use of skills she teaches, and you can often find her engaging in self-care activities such as meditation, exercise, and reading. Ashley has a love of learning and believes that it is never too late to take the first step towards positive change in your life.
