Feminist Therapist in Mccandless
Tiffany Speakman MA, LPC, RYT is certain that everyone has an innate capacity to change toward a better versions of themselves. Tiffany emphasizes both old and new treatment modalities from CBT to holistic methods including mindfulness based approaches, she blends these together to help clients heal their psychological disorders and relationship issues. Tiffany began her journey of learning at Slippery Rock University receiving her Bachelors Degree in Public Health. This opened the doorway to finding that helping people through language, mind-body relationship tools, and holding a space for unconditional positive regard to heal. Creating a space for people to begin healing through competent listening skills, warm demeanor, and realistic tools to utilize outside of therapy is how she approaches beginning to work with individuals. Tiffany went on to receive her Masters Degree in Community Counseling in 2013 with a specialization in Addictions. Tiffany has worked in numerous settings and has counseled people of all different stages of life, focusing on addictions. Some of her important work included working with adolescents, women, and those individuals diagnosed with a severe mental health diagnosis and substance use. Tiffany utilizes numerous techniques in counseling sessions including cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness, existentialism, non-violent communication, and trauma focused therapy. Through this experience, Tiffany helped many people find symptom relief from depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and PTSD. Healing through the five senses is a technique that helps with PTSD and can be very beneficial to bring about healing. Tiffany can help people see their thought process and ways to start to change thinking patterns. Working with families and couples is also important. Communication is a huge part of our well-being, and Tiffany believes that learning healthy communication skills can be a key component to leading thriving life in relationships. As her journey of gaining experience and real life knowledge progressed, she found a different way to help those heal through yoga. She worked to become a registered yoga teacher in 2016 and has been practicing and teaching yoga ever since. Yoga has been a great addition to the counseling process, as it brings in components of mindfulness, breathe work, and acceptance. It has been a great addition to her personal and professional life. She is happy to be able to provide some of these yoga techniques into her practice as fitted. Tiffany also works as an adjunct professor through Penn State Beaver and teaches those people who are looking to become recovery specialists. Tiffany feels that furthering education is a great way for people to become thriving in their lives.
As Tiffany continues to work, she is striving to continue her education. Learning more healing tools is an important part of growing as a clinician. Tiffany likes to take time to enhance her skills through more training and learning ways to utilize more holistic approaches to therapy. In her spare time, Tiffany enjoys spending time with her family. She loves being in nature. You can find her on a sunny day walking her dog Bertha, kayaking, and hiking. Tiffany also loves to see live music of all different genres with her husband, as music is a huge part of her self-care. You can also find Tiffany doing yoga poses throughout the day to maintain her balance.
