

Skyla Hartman, LCSW
Skyla Hartman, LCSW is a counselor providing therapy services in our Wexford Counseling Center. She comes to our practice with a genuine empathetic and compassionate approach to therapy. Skyla graduated from Penn State University with her Bachelor’s Degree and has her Master’s In Social Work from The University of Pittsburgh. She has worked in a variety of environments, in both residential treatment settings and outpatient facilities. Skyla has worked with many families who have struggled with communicating appropriately and have had issues parenting children. She has engaged families is structural family therapy, mending parent-child roles, improving communication skills in relationships, establishing hierarchy, and increasing other important factors that create healthy family lives. This also includes working on parent and couple relationships. She has also had an abundance of experience working with individuals suffering from depression and anxiety. She believes that many symptoms of these diagnoses are able to be alleviated from use of therapy and utilization of coping skills and rewiring certain thought patterns in the brain.
Skyla has worked with clients who have a range of diagnoses; from schizophrenia to anxiety and depression. She understands the need of a therapist to start where the client is and to engage clients in a person-centered approach. Some of her chosen interventions include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), enhancing coping skills, mindfulness meditation, visualization and progressive muscle relaxation, motivational interviewing, problem-solving, behavioral activation, and structural family therapy. Skyla is also very open minded and progressive when it comes to her clients. She spent time working for Allies for Health + Wellbeing and is LGBTQIA friendly.
Growing up in a very rural part of Western PA, Skyla has been around hunting and fishing all her life and enjoys the outdoors. She especially enjoys time spending time with her Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Wrigley. Spending time riding quads, swimming, campfires, and traveling in and out of the country are some of her hobbies. Skyla loves animals and believes that they can be very beneficial to one’s mental health.
