Are you feeling stuck? Ready for a change? Frustrated? Stressed? Unmotivated? We all have been there before – when life starts to overwhelm you. This might be a good time to look at the next steps to becoming a better version of you.
Sharissa Shatten, MS, LPC, NCC is a licensed and certified counselor providing emotional support to children and adults in individual counseling as well as family counseling in our Monroeville Counseling Center. Sharissa has effectively worked with children ages 5-18 to assist them in overcoming stress, effects of bullying, and self-love. She also specializes in assisting adults and children with anxiety, depression and stress related syndromes. She practices in the office and also sees clients via telephone or online. These are digitally secure methods for those who wish to remain in their comfort zone, but that would still like to partake in therapy.
Sharissa graduated with her Masters degree in Professional Counseling from Carlow University where she also obtained her School Counseling certification. She is certified to teach kids and teen yoga, and also is a Reiki Master.
Sharissa would love to meet with you and help you through this, together. She is here to support you and help guide you to the best version of you! She chose to be in school for many years outside of the typical 4-year Bachelors and 2-year Masters programs. Her education background, life and career experiences will further help her help you. Sharissa’s theories of practice are through the lens of being solution focused, client centered and trauma informed, among an eclectic compilation of many others, including mindfulness, reiki, and other creative techniques in order to heal the whole person.
During her counseling sessions Sharissa begins by building trust and rapport with her clients because it is important for the client to believe that they have a voice in maintaining their health. Sharissa works with clients utilizing mindfulness techniques to enhance inner strengths and abilities to increase their levels of self-worth and self-love. She incorporates positive self-talk, mindfulness and meditation, art and creative therapy and other remedies. She has experience in shadow work, imposter syndrome, family drug addiction, and other topics of interest to her clients.
Outside of CWC, Sharissa is a full-time school counselor in a school district in Butler County. On occasion, she is teaching kids and teen yoga classes in local studios (pre-pandemic), and takes adult tap dance classes! Other hobbies of hers includes taking yoga classes, HIIT training at a local place in the strip district, being a Sweatnet ambassador, supporting others and continued research of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), crystal and energy work, among other outlets. She lives with her Husband of 10 years and four fur-babies just outside of Pittsburgh.
Sharissa recognizes everyone heals differently and will meet each person where they are. She believes in healing the mind, body, and soul, or the whole person. She will provide you with a safe space where you can both be open, honest and respectful with one another. Sharissa would be honored to help you find the best version of you, as your best self!
