Kisa Pentarek, MA, NBCC, has always enjoyed helping others recover from mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. Friends and family of Kisa were not surprised at all when she shared her desire to become a mental health counselor. She had been listening and offering them advice for as long as they could remember. Kisa utilizes a person-centered therapeutic approach empowering and motivating her clients to overcome issues such as anxiety and depression. She also utilizes other evidence based therapeutic approaches and interventions including mindfulness, Gestalt Therapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Kisa has experience working with a wide variety of mental health diagnoses and believes each client’s treatment is unique and works hard to find the best way to help each person. She is committed to listening, challenging, and figuring out how to help her clients find peace in their lives and realize their strengths and abilities.
Kisa received her bachelor’s in biology with a minor in psychology at Chatham University. Kisa worked in case management during her bachelor’s degree. She provided resources to adults with mental health diagnoses. Once graduating with her bachelor’s, Kisa became a social worker for children and families. She listened to their concerns and helped to locate resources and resolutions for their concerns. After working as a social worker, Kisa decided to attend Edinboro University to pursue her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Since graduating with her master’s degree, Kisa has worked for outpatient counseling offices as a therapist. Most recently, Kisa was working as the clinical supervisor for an inpatient detox and rehab facility. Kisa has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Kisa has helped clients with diagnoses ranging from substance abuse to anxiety to trauma to depression and many more. Kisa is determined to help her clients get to the root of any issues or concerns. She will help clients consider other perspectives and ways to explain thoughts and behavior and emotions and how they are all interconnected and can influence one another. She will focus on what the client envisions for their goals and assist them in reaching them.
Kisa is excited to join the Counseling and Wellness Center of Pittsburgh at the Greensburg office. This new opportunity is an exciting next step for Kisa’s career. Kisa is looking forward to growing and learning as a therapist at the Counseling and Wellness Center of Pittsburgh. She feels like this company was meant to be her next therapeutic home and is greatly looking forward to what will happen in this chapter. Kisa is a proud wife and mother of one daughter, one dog, and six cats! She has a history of adopting and helping to rescue cats. Her most recent cat addition was rescued from her previous job at the detox and rehab facility. This explains why the cat is affectionately named, “Rehab.” Kisa encourages anyone considering therapy to take that first step and call. She feels strongly that you will not regret it, and a life filled with more positivity and peace is waiting for you on the other side.
